OPA’s Diversity Committee

Welcome and thanks for taking the time to check out the Diversity section of the OPA Diversity Committee.

The Diversity Committee is a newly formed committee.  We are proud to say that we currently have 15 members and always welcome new members.  We are interested in recruiting a diverse group of people and want to welcome people from all parts of Oregon. It is important to us that our committee has a good representation of the diverse psychologists in Oregon.

The committee meetings are generally held in Portland and can be accessed via conference calling. The committee meetings are held at the end of each month from 5:30 to 7:00 pm on a weekday (usually Tuesday or Wednesday).  Meetings are not held in August or December.  The meetings have been quite productive and they have included case consultations and diversity-related presentations given by committee members.  Members also participate in subcommittees that meet every other month during the already scheduled committee meeting.  For example, this past year a consultation subcommittee was formed that is in the process of developing a consultation program for psychologists seeking consultation on diversity-related issues.  We also have another subcommittee who has been working on the committee’s website, which you are having access to right now!

Besides our monthly meetings, we have a yearly retreat where we review the committee goals that have been achieved, with a focus on creating new ones for the new year. This is also the time we hold elections for the committee positions: Chair and Vice Chair.

We hope you consider becoming a member of our committee.  Please feel free to explore our section for more information.
Also feel free to contact this year’s chair or vice chair:
